This second session in FGPC's summer 2024 "steering series" will guide beginner, novice and newer steering students through a hands-on low-stress practical introductory steering session. This on-water session will provide each participant which an understanding of and experience with the fundamental steering strokes and how they make the boat behave. The class size is limited to 12 to provide for adequate time for each paddler to master each required stroke technique and to implement the steering strokes in a crew. The session will be conducted in V12 canoes to prevent capsizing. All 12 participants will learn steering technique, along with actual steering experience in a boat while underway. Participants will learn how to steer on both sides of the canoe, as well as on the left (ama-side) only, a critical safety skill for all steerspeople.

This third session in FGPC's summer 2024 "steering series" will guide steering students who've completed the first 2 sessions through safe, hands-on practical steering drills in OC6 canoes.
